Environmental Audit

Mutual understanding by all parties through communication is important to promoting environmental management by the Hitachi Construction Machinery Group. Group companies are expanding overseas through the globalization of our business, which increases the importance of understanding each other’s position and circumstances. To that end, Hitachi Construction Machinery proactively conducts environmental exchanges with group companies, and conducts regular inspections of the status of compliance with environmental laws and regulations, management systems, etc. of group companies by conducting environmental audits every year.
The Sustainability Promotion Group conducted internal environmental audits of all its major manufacturing companies in 2019.
We have changed the audit cycle, which used to be once every four years, to an annual audit, and are working to ensure thorough compliance by implementing the PDCA cycle in a shorter period.
We have also started environmental patrols at group companies engaged in sales and service sites, and from FY 2020, we have conducted visits to domestic sales and service sites for guidance and conducted remote online patrols. Also, from FY 2021, we have conducted self-audits based on a checklist for overseas sales and service sites.

Environmental Audit (FY 2021)

Japan : 13 sites, Overseas : 11 sites （including document inspections）

In the audits, we confirmed conformity of environmental action plan and target, compliance with environmental laws and regulations, management systems, emissions and management of waste and wastewater. In follow-up audits, we conducted surveys by each company using audit check lists. We also conducted follow-up surveys of important items and self-audit by each company.

Japan : 10 sites, Overseas : 10 sites （including document inspections）

In the audits, conformity with environmental action plans, compliance with environmental laws and regulations, checks of management systems, and the management of waste and wastewater are carried out. In follow-up audits, follow-up surveys of important items are also actioned.
