Bauma 2025: mining challenge
ESG compliance
The supply of raw materials must be secured through a new approach to extraction – and that is the fifth and final topic that is being highlighted at Bauma: the mining challenge.
On one hand, developments such as urbanisation and industrialisation, as well as the energy and transport transition, create a huge international hunger for raw materials. On the other, investors and regulatory authorities increasingly demand that mining companies comply with environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria.
The global mining industry faces the challenge of securing the economic supply of raw materials while minimising negative impacts on the environment, climate and people. At Bauma, HCME’s experts will showcase the latest technology solutions for this challenge.
Efficient mining operation
Hitachi Construction Machinery’s (HCM) Autonomous Haulage System (AHS) enables the unmanned operation of EH rigid dump trucks at open-cast pits, helping mines around the world to reach their potential. This solution simultaneously optimises the efficiency, productivity and safety of mining sites.
AHS combines HCM’s advanced technologies and Wenco’s Fleet Management System (FMS) to make driverless operation a reality. The FMS has an extensive global track record and is one of the industry's leading operational management systems. It provides real-time monitoring of each dump truck to optimise vehicle operation and support efficient mining operations.
Reducing CO2 emissions
In addition, HCM wants to help mining companies to achieve their sustainability goals by offering products that are designed with a range of environmental features that can reduce CO2 emissions. One such feature is the EH Tuning Package (EHTP), which is a software-based program designed to optimise HCM’s dump trucks to suit their working conditions.
The goal is to consume less fuel and subsequently, reduce the mining company's fuel costs. We know that not all mines are the same, with diverse environmental conditions influencing the performance of each machine. By reducing fuel costs through EHTP, we can ensure that our machines maintain a low life-cycle cost (LCC), with almost no impact on productivity.
