Bauma 2025: sustainable construction
Fit for the future
Our carbon footprint, the conservation of our resources and the circular economy are all key elements for the future of sustainable construction. The process of construction consumes significant amounts of resources and is one of the largest producers of greenhouse gases.
For these reasons alone, social development aimed at sustainability is inconceivable without the essential contributions of the construction industry. Bauma presents a range of diverse approaches for sustainable construction from the world of machinery – and Hitachi is no exception.
Adaptive power systems
We have already explored the low-emission Hitachi construction machinery that will be displayed at the exhibition for the second topic of ‘Alternative drive concepts’. Electric solutions prevent exhaust fumes and reduce noise for construction equipment, and eight models from Hitachi Construction Machinery (HCM) and KTEG (Kiesel Technology Entwicklung GmbH) offer these benefits on the HCME stand.
In addition, an alternative fuel will be showcased on the ZE300 H2, which has been designed with a hydrogen engine for heavy-duty work in environmentally sensitive areas. HCME will also unveil its vision for the future of construction equipment with its pioneering LANDCROS One.
The excavator concept will be revealed on stand number FN716 with one of its four transformative innovation pillars being ‘Adaptive power systems for every job site’. Environmental responsibility meets operational flexibility with the LANDCROS One’s propulsion system available in three distinct power modes: electric, combustion, or hydrogen.
Social aspects
Alongside sustainable construction solutions that remain economically viable, safeguarding human health, for example, is also a key objective. Reducing construction site noise is good for the wellbeing of both workers and local residents. The electric, hydrogen and adaptive power excavators highlighted above are not only capable of being particularly quiet, but also emit no harmful exhaust gases or particulate matter where they are used.
HCM is also introducing an innovative and practical battery swap system enabling continuous operation by minimising downtime through easy and convenient battery exchanges. This innovative solution not only helps to maintain productivity, but also provides flexibility for sustainability in demanding environments.
Bauma will also be the platform to present new ideas from HCM to improve safety on the construction site and the working conditions for employees. These also include ergonomic and intuitive controls, options for driver assistance and telematics, and what we consider to be the best human detection assist system in the market.
