Dutch contractor J. van Uijthoven & Zn BV has a diverse line-up of Hitachi wheeled, medium and mini excavators that includes both new and used models. Two of its recent additions were new electric machines, hired for short-term projects in the south of the country.
An evolving contractor
Since it was founded in 1980 by the grandfather of the current owner Jurgen van Uijthoven, the Eersel-based company has evolved from being a demolition to infrastructure specialist. “My father and uncle started the demolition part of the business,” explains Jurgen, “and my father bought the first Hitachi machine from our local dealer, Pellen BV.”
Since then, the company has expanded to employ 70 people and its core business activity is now commercial infrastructure, such as a recent project in the town of Aalst, Den Hof. Here J van Uijthoven & Zn BV was responsible for groundworks, installing pipes for utilities, and planting new trees. This government-funded scheme required the use of emission-free excavators, for which J van Uijthoven & Zn BV hired the compact electric ZE85.
High-quality machinery
“I went to Pellen for an electric machine – I didn’t look elsewhere,” says Jurgen. “I’m not a number to them and the service I receive is the reason that I’ve remained loyal to Hitachi – when I call, they don’t ask, they just come! They are not like other dealers, I don’t have to wait, they respond straight away.”
The strength of this relationship is underpinned by the reliability of Hitachi machinery, and the variety of sales, rental and used options available to Jurgen as his family business continues to evolve. In addition to this, he says: “Hitachi machines are high quality, the operators like them, and they look good, which is also important!”
