Hitachi construction machinery: highlights of 2025
Showcasing innovation and the future of construction
At Bauma 2025 we showed off some of our latest technology and new solutions that are shaping the future of construction equipment. The star of the show was the launch of the LANDCROS One concept excavator – a prototype built with smart, safe, and eco-friendly operation in mind. It received a fantastic response from visitors and picked up a prestigious Red Dot Design Award later in the year.
Research into predictive maintenance for mining
In May, we announced our collaboration with TU Delft University on a PhD research project. The aim of the research is to identify and predict the remaining life of critical components on mining machines. It will help engineers plan maintenance before parts need replacing to improve the availability, reliability and safety of dump trucks that operate in some of the world’s toughest environments. It will also help to significantly reduce operational downtime and life-cycle costs.
Boosting fleet and equipment management
This year, we also made significant improvements to our digital tools. The ConSite all-in-one machine health management system was upgraded so users can get even more detailed information about the operation of their machines.
Further updates included the ConSite Helmet which will offer new support with extended reality tech and ConSite Mine Scan, which is a wear measurement tool introduced in April at Bauma.
We also improved our Telematics API to report data more often – every 10 or 60 minutes – so customers get quicker and more accurate updates on their fleets.
Plus, we opened up access to 2D and 3D CAD drawings to help with BIM integration, making it easier for customers to manage assets over the course of their projects.
Launch of LANDCROS Connect
In June, we launched LANDCROS Connect, an all-in-one fleet management system for customers with mixed fleets. It helps organise machines by site, set geofences, track productivity, and build customised reports on factors such as idling, fuel use, and CO₂ emissions.
LANDCROS Connect works seamlessly with existing systems like Global e-Service and ConSite, so alerts and machine information show up right where users need them. It’s available in over 30 languages and easy to use even for those switching from older systems.
Rental opportunities
With economic uncertainty across Europe, there’s been a growing demand for rental solutions in 2025. While some countries saw construction activity slow down, we noticed rental companies showing strong interest, especially in mature markets like the UK – helped by the success of our subsidiary, Synergy Hire.
We continued to grow our Rent-to-Rent programme, where dealers rent out machines to their customers. Demand was steady in Italy, Spain, and France, especially due to uncertain project timelines.
Alongside compact equipment, larger Hitachi machines are now also part of the offering for the mining sector – based on customer needs and rental availability.
Rebranding to LANDCROS
Finally, in October this year, HCM announced its intention to rebrand to LANDCROS by April 2027. The new brand reflects a long-term strategic direction focused on intelligent, connected and sustainable solutions across the construction and mining industries.
This transition is aligned with developments such as the introduction of LANDCROS Connect and concept machine LANDCROS One, and the evolution of digital and AI-driven tools designed to enhance productivity from ground to cloud.
“2025 was a turning point for Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe),” says Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) President and CEO, Francesco Quaranta.
“At Bauma we set a clear vision with the award‑winning LANDCROS One prototype, and the launch of LANDCROS Connect Fleet management system. We helped businesses do more with less by raising uptime, lowering emissions, and delivering simple, actionable insights.”
He adds: “With strong momentum in rental and the continued trust of our dealers and partners, we’re building the bridge to our transformation to LANDCROS by 2027, unifying machinery, data and design from ground to cloud so customers can win confidently in any cycle.”
