Luyckx celebrates 70th anniversary, and 40 years as a Hitachi dealer

Congratulations to Belgian Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) NV (HCME) dealer, Luyckx NV, as the company celebrates its 70th anniversary in 2022, and 40 years of distributing Hitachi construction machinery!

Generations of innovation

Luyckx has been a family business since it was founded all the way back in 1952, when Louis Luyckx bought his first tractor and began taking on jobs pulling out bushes and clearing forests. Alongside his wife Céline, Luyckx grew the company from its roots in farming and forestry and began importing loading cranes from Italy in 1963.

With a keen eye for innovation, Louis Luyckx sold a large number of ‘tractor and crane’ combinations in the region, and quickly built up an international presence with Louis taking bold opportunities and Céline keeping finances firmly under control.

The second generation of the Luyckx family – Jos, Paula, and Chantal Luyckx – are still in control of the family business seventy years into its history, and are continuing the tenacious spirit of their mother and father today. To illustrate this strength of spirit, Chantal recounts that “our dad once delivered a tractor in Scherpenheuvel and came back [60km] by foot, since they still didn’t have a car,” and Jos neatly summarises: “Going the extra mile for the customer lies at the basis of Luyckx.”

Long-standing collaborations

This character, inspiration, and drive is now embodied in Luyckx’s company values, and is illustrated by the long-lasting and fruitful collaborations with construction equipment manufacturers such as Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) NV (HCME). Since 1982, HCME and Luyckx have built a close and successful working relationship, with the shared focus on exceptional customer service, long-term partnerships and open and respectful business practices in the construction sector.

Throughout this special anniversary year for both Luyckx and HCME, both companies are celebrating the many long-term relationships that have been forged over the years, and are looking forwards to building a better future for construction.
