Groundworks and civil engineering specialist Westpoint Construction is celebrating its 35th anniversary in 2025 with a striking new addition to its expanding fleet. A customised Hitachi ZX130LCN-7B has been delivered in collaboration with UK dealership Hitachi Construction Machinery UK.
Founded in 1990, Westpoint Construction has built a reputation for quality, productivity, and safety across a wide range of sectors – from housing to retirement living and commercial developments. The Redditch-based company continues to invest in innovation, and the new anniversary machine is the latest example of its forward-thinking approach.
A stand-out excavator
To mark the milestone, Westpoint Construction opted for a fully customised ZX130LCN-7B – finished in the company’s distinctive grey. The machine is equipped with an Engcon tiltrotator and Leica 3D machine control, helping to deliver exceptional accuracy and efficiency on site.
Comfort and control
The 14-tonne excavator is currently working on a housing development project in Coventry. Operator Ryan Doleman, who recently switched from another manufacturer’s machine, was quick to notice the upgrade in user experience. “The cab feels like a real step up – the heated seat, front and rear sun visors and rain guard all come as standard.
“The colour monitor is intuitive and easy to understand, allowing me to see at a glance the position of my machine,” he adds. “The cab overall is bigger than I am used to and is more comfortable than the machine I was using before.”
Power and precision
Ryan is also impressed with the machine’s performance. “The hydraulics are everything you’d expect from Hitachi – smooth, powerful, and responsive. With the Engcon and Leica systems, I can be much more efficient and productive.”
He also praised the machine’s new functionality: “The roll-in, roll-out priority feature on the dipper arm is brilliant – it lets me fine tune my machine to my driving style.”
Investing in the future
With over three decades of industry experience, Westpoint Construction continues to invest in the tools, technology and talent needed to support its clients and workforce. The addition of the ZX130LCN-7B is more than just a celebration of the past – it’s a signal of intent for the years ahead.
