Transforming construction equipment maintenance
Hitachi’s ConSite applications
Key to Hitachi’s predictive maintenance capabilities is ConSite, a family of digital applications and services that provide real-time data on equipment performance. This includes the ConSite Data Report, ConSite Pocket app, ConSite Shot inspection assistant, and the industry-first oil condition monitoring sensor.
“Coupled with artificial intelligence and over 20 years of machine data, we are developing a predictive system to further reduce the total cost of ownership and enhance the reliability of Hitachi machines,” says Arthur da Rocha Geremia, Product Manager at Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe).
By analysing trends in metrics such as oil condition, fuel consumption, and operating hours, fleet managers can anticipate when parts may need replacing, before a failure occurs. This reduces the risk of knock-on damage to other components and minimises disruption to operations.
Supporting research and development
In a further step towards innovation, we are supporting academic research into predictive maintenance. We recently collaboratied with a PhD candidate at TU Delft, who is developing a model to estimate the remaining life of components on mining dump trucks.
“Our mining machines have sensors installed on key components, allowing us to gather detailed information on indicators like temperatures and pressures,” says Daan van Berkel, Manager Mining Projects and Sustainable Mining for Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe).
By sharing complex datasets and domain expertise, Hitachi is contributing to the development of more accurate, data-driven models. These insights will help maintenance teams to plan servicing more effectively, reduce life-cycle costs, and improve safety across demanding applications.
Remote diagnostics and real-time insights
Remote diagnostics is another area in which digitalisation is delivering value. Telematics systems, such as Global e-Service, allow users to monitor their equipment remotely, accessing critical metrics, including idle time, fuel usage, location, and CO2 emissions.
Enhanced fleet visibility through LANDCROS Connect
To support fleet-wide visibility and decision-making, we have also recently launched LANDCROS Connect, a digital fleet management platform designed for mixed-brand equipment. It integrates seamlessly with ConSite and Global e-Service, offering centralised access to machine data and service alerts.
Users can create geofences, compare machine performance by job site, and generate custom reports on key metrics. With remote access and multi-language support, LANDCROS Connect is a valuable tool for large contractors, civil engineering firms, and rental businesses seeking to optimise operations across multiple locations.
“We have evolved from being solely an equipment manufacturer to becoming a comprehensive solution provider,” says Pooja Gupta, HCME Product Manager Solution Linkage. “By adopting new technologies and digital tools, and utilising them in the correct way, owners and operators can work with greater precision, productivity, and ease.”

Looking ahead: from preventive to predictive
With further development of the ConSite platform underway, we are aiming to strengthen our position as a digital solutions provider.
ConSite is already compatible with a wide range of Hitachi machinery, including the Zaxis excavators and ZW wheel loaders, as well as mining equipment. As the next generation of connected equipment enters the market, HCME is well placed to help contractors maintain high performance, improve efficiency, and reduce environmental impact.
