Versatility of Hitachi fleet helps Italian construction company tackle complex project
Italian construction company Adriacos srl is working on a large urbanisation and infrastructure project in Porto Vecchio, Trieste, complete with a range of Hitachi excavators.
After being initially being involved in lot one of this major redevelopment, the company is now engaged on the second phase, which includes excavation for the installation of sub-service structures such as sewers, water networks and electrical systems.
A diverse line up
To carry out its work, the company is using two Hitachi ZX85USB excavators (one series six and the other a series five), as well a ZX135US-7 and a ZX240N-7. All the machines have been supplied by Salomoni srl, official Hitachi dealer covering the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region and part of eastern Veneto.
Each model has a specific task to carry out, which shows the versatility of the excavator line up and the different equipment they carry. For example, the ZX85USB-6 has been fitted with a triple articulating arm and is proving to be the ideal choice for digging trenches.
Great all-rounder
Meanwhile, the ZX135US-7 is proving to be a great all-rounder. “Thanks to the accessory support system it provides incredible versatility,” says Marco Salomoni, owner of Salomoni srl. “In addition, it is really ultra spacious – there is more legroom and therefore more comfort for the operator, who also benefits from some of the lowest noise levels in the sector and 16% less vibration than the previous generation.”
It's also a very durable and reliable machine, thanks to improvements made to the undercarriage, including the enhanced X-frame and reinforced brakes.
The ZX240N-7 is being used to excavate the sewage network to a depth of three metres. “It was fundamental above all for the construction of an exhaust pipe directly into the sea,” explains Franco Mauro, Construction Site Manager with Adriacos. “We replaced the standard arm and installed a four metre-long forearm so we could carry out the work without using a pontoon, which saved time and money.”
Renowned quality
In addition to having the right kit for the job, completing large, complex projects on time requires machines to work all day, every day, as Andrea Gallici, Maintenance and Logistics Manager of Adriacos, knows only too well.
“The strength of having a constantly renewed and reliable machine park makes it easier for our company to take on work of considerable commitment and at different locations,” he says. “This is why we rely on the renowned quality of Hitachi excavators that are distinguished by technology, productivity and economy.”
