Hitachi Construction Machinery Australia (HCA) is implementing various green initiatives. The company is taking an active stance to reduce its CO2 emissions to stop climate change. In addition to having employees turn off unnecessary lights they are not using in their own work space, the company has switched to LED and other lighting to conserve on energy usage. The Sydney head office has succeeded in reducing its electric power bill by 24% year-on-year. At other branch offices, electric bills have been cut on average by 17%. The company has also switched to fuel-efficiency eco-cars thereby reducing its annual CO2 emissions by around 600 metric tons or 60%.
Moreover, the company has switched to using recycled paper in copiers at all HCA sites as a measure to effectively utilize resources. By improving employee awareness of excessive paper use, the company has lowered its paper usage by 25% year-on-year. This eco movement, which includes switching to eco-efficient lighting, separating trash, and recycling, is being carried out at all HCA offices and branches.
