Increase in use of battery forklifts

Hitachi Kenki Logistics Technology, who is in charge of logistics inside the premises of Tsuchiura Works, Kasumigaura Works, Hitachinaka Works and Hitachinaka-Rinko Works, is increasing the number of battery forklifts they use in order to reduce CO2 emissions. In fiscal 2008, they increased the number of battery forklifts by 22, although this was less than the number originally planned because of the infulence of the economic crisis. As a result of this increase, they are now using a total of 91 battery forklifts at the four plants, which means a reduction in CO2 emissions of 71.5 tons a year. In fiscal 2009, they will again raise the number of battery forklifts they use, if production recovers.
