Requesting transportation company contractors to fit digital tachometers to trailers and trucks

Hitachi Kenki Logistics Technology fitted digital tachometers to the new trucks it purchased in fiscal 2007 so that they can drive the trucks in a way to reduce the consumption of fuel as a part of the efforts they are making for the prevention of global warming. The initiative was successful in improving the fuel efficiency of the trucks by 15% (10% of the fuel efficiency improvement was due to the new trucks themselves, and 5% by the tachometer that assisted driving in a way to reduce the consumption of fuel). In fiscal 2008, they requested their transportation company contractors to do the same thing.

Responding to their request, transportation company contractors fitted digital tachometers to 55 trailers and 41 trucks in total, including the fitting of digital tachometers on 11 trailers and 11 trucks by Necco Transportation. They were informed that as a result of efforts of drivers at contractors to drive the vehicles in a way that reduces the consumption of fuel, fuel efficiency has improved by between 3 and 5%.

They will continue to request transportation company contractors to fit digital tachometers, because driving in a way that reduces the consumption of fuel by using a digital tachometer increases fuel efficiency.
