On October 22, 2019, Hitachi Construction Machinery (Malaysia) collaborated with Hitachi Asia Malaysia in a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program entitled Universal Design Workshop for 120 students at 2 high schools.

Hitachi Volunteers taught the students the concept of Universal Design in products that is easy to use for a diversed society with different physical conditions such as the elderly, physically impaired, pregnant women, children, etc.

The program was divided into 2 parts. In the first part of the program, the students were briefed about the concept of Universal Design and the importance of it in our diversified society. In the second part of the program is the workshop activity whereby the students were instructed to draw their product design using Universal Design Concept and present their ideas to everyone.

The students understood the application of Universal Design and presented good ideas of their own product design. Hitachi volunteers plan to reach out to more schools to introduce the concept of Universal Design.
