Basic Concept
Since its founding, the Hitachi Construction Machinery Group has promoted environmental conservation initiatives with the aim of realizing a sustainable society in harmony with the environment.
In August 2025, in light of changes in the external environment and our company strategies, we revised our Environmental Conservation Action Guidelines as our Environmental Policy, with approval from the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors.
Our Environmental Policy incorporates measures to address worsening climate change and contribute to a circular economy, expressing our intention to address environmental issues through our business.
Environmental Policy
1. Compliance with environmental laws and regulations
We comply with environmental laws and regulations in all countries and regions where we do business and will set voluntary management standards as necessary to reduce our environmental impact.
2. Implementation of environmental governance
We set policies and goals, build an environmental management system, and work to continuously improve our environmental performance. These efforts will be promoted under the Sustainability Promotion Committee, which is composed of executive officers and above, and will be reported to the Board of Directors on a regular basis.
3. Addressing climate change through the value chain
We work to reduce CO2 emissions by formulating roadmaps for both product development and production processes, aiming to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions throughout the entire value chain by 2050.
4. Contributing to the realization of a circular economy
Starting with product development and design, we will promote resource circulation by reducing waste through our value chain business and promoting activity relating to the four Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Renewable) throughout the group, thereby contributing to the realization of a circular economy.
5. Establishment of an Environmental Management System
We aim to be carbon neutral by 2050 through our business activities and work to reduce CO2 emissions. In addition, in order to conserve water resources in the areas where we conduct business, we will work to reduce water usage after understanding the characteristics of the area, including the ecosystem, and promote the proper management of chemical substances to prevent air pollution, water and soil pollution caused by wastewater, and waste discharge containing hazardous substances.
6. Stakeholder Engagement and Information Disclosure
We will consider improvements to the content and efforts of this policy in cooperation with stakeholders, leading to the promotion of efforts and information disclosure. We will provide training opportunities on environmental impact to group employees and procurement partners to increase the effectiveness of our efforts and share the purpose of this policy with business partners and local communities, striving to expand the creation of environmental value.
7. Management of Environmental Activities
The Board of Directors oversees Hitachi Construction Machinery Group's overall environmental activities, including this policy, compliance with it, and related investments.
Environmental Management Structure
The Hitachi Construction Machinery Group promotes group-wide environmental activities, such as formulating important environmental policies and measures and planning new initiatives, through an environmental management structure centered on the Sustainability Promotion Group.
At least once a year, we report to the Board of Directors on sustainability-related issues, such as policies, strategies, and company-wide targets related to sustainability, including climate change, and share the current status and progress to be supervised.
