Third‒party Review of Greenhouse Gas Emissions

As in FY2012, Hitachi Construction Machinery underwent a third‒party review by SGS Japan Inc. in FY2013 to verify its greenhouse gas emissions.

This year, in accordance with the GHG Protocol ∗1, verification was carried out for 11 domestic group plants and six overseas plants, including five Hitachi Construction Machinery plants, which fell under Scope 1 and 2∗2. Verification was also conducted for Scope 3 emissions. Hitachi Construction Machinery is implementing environmental management over the entire product life‒cycle. More than 99% of our total CO2 emissions along the product life‒cycle were subject to this review.

The review was conducted on May 26 and 27. Our plants were verified to satisfy limited assurance for Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions.
